Double-Chocolate Brownies

Martha Stewart’s Double-Chocolate Brownies

This recipe was next in my quest for the ultimate brownie recipe.  Fudgy and rich, yet quick and simple to make….is it possible I hit the jackpot with my second attempt?  I have at least one more I want to try, but I may be declaring these the winner.

Bird’s Nest Cookies

Martha Stewart’s Bird’s Nest Cookies

I meant to post this when I made these at Easter time, but life got in the way…

And topped with coconut and jelly beans to create these springtime treats:

Man-Catcher Brownies

Man-Catcher Brownies, from The Washington Post

There’s a cute story behind the name of these famed brownies, but I just wanted to try them because I am on the quest for the ultimate go-to brownie recipe.  This was not it, but they are pretty darn good.  Stay tuned for better contenders.

German Chocolate Protein Bars

German Chocolate Protein Bars from The Sweet Life

Another experiment in protein bar making.  These are no-bake and can be made in a food processor…you really have no excuse not to make your own anymore.

Fudge Brownie Chocolate Protein Bars

Fudge Brownie Chocolate Protein Bars, from Chocolate-Covered Katie

I make my own protein bars.  I have a hard time finding any that are free of wheat, whey, high-glycemic sweeteners, and artificial sweeteners (all things I try to avoid for various reasons), so I just make my own with my favorite vegan protein powder, and have never been disappointed.  These bars get an extra protein punch from a black bean base (don’t cringe–remember the DELICIOUS black bean brownies?), and are fudgy, rich, and a great pick-me-up.

Banana Bars

Banana Bars, from allrecipes.com

I stirred in some chocolate chips to the batter and added a little cocoa powder to the banana buttercream because, well, chocolate.
