Did you know you can make bread without an oven?  You actually don’t even need yeast.  To make flatbread, all you need is flour, water, salt, and a hot surface on which to cook it.

Once you make this simple dough and let it rest, all you need to do is roll it into flattened sheets and cook it in a hot skillet–meaning you could have fresh bread while camping, traveling, or on a hot summer day when you can’t bear to turn on the stove.

After making and resting the dough for 8-12 hours, you shape it into smaller balls for rolling:


After rolling a piece of the dough, slide it into a hot, dry skillet–see how it bubbles?  Those are the best parts. Each piece cooks in under a minute for each side.
