Have any candy canes leftover from Christmas?  Then turn them into a treat for the next holiday.

After rolling out and cutting heart shapes out of chocolate sugar cookie dough,  you then cut a smaller heart out of the middle of each cookie, fill the hole with crushed candy canes, and bake as normal.  The candy melts and forms a pretty, transparent window.  The colors from the candy canes are great for these valentine treats, but most any hard candy will also work here–such as Jolly Ranchers or butterscotch candies.
