French Baguettes

French Baguettes, from

Making bread is as simple as mixing together flour, water, sugar, salt and yeast.  I made these baguettes by mixing the dough in a bread machine, then hand-forming and baking the loaves in the oven.  To achieve a baguette’s dense texture, this recipe calls for you to roll out the dough into a rectangle, roll up the rectangle into a log shape, and score the top.  I’ve never made baguettes before so I tried making two different sizes, and both turned out well.
